>Why Hire a Worker With Disabilities?
Are you a business owner or manager who is thinking of hiring an employee with a disability?
You've come to the right page. There are 54 million Americans with disabilities and nearly 30 percent of American families have at least one member with a disability. Seventy percent of working-aged adults with disabilities are unemployed. Hiring workers with disabilities can provide a number of benefits to your business:
You Receive a Positive Return on Your Investment.
• Cost-effective wages – in some cases workers are paid below minimum wage.
• Time-effective task management – workers with disabilities complete specific job tasks, freeing other employees to spend their time on more complex tasks.
• One study showed that workers with disabilities rated an average of 90 percent or better in job performance.
• Research shows that workers with disabilities had fewer scheduled absences than employees without disabilities.
• Reduced hiring and training costs. These are often completed by Achieve at no cost to the employer.
• There are tax incentives available for businesses hiring workers with disabilities.
These are: The Work Opportunity Tax Credit, The Disabled Access Credit for Small Businesses, and The Architectural barrier Removal Tax Deduction.
Positive Public and Workplace Perceptions
• A large number of Americans (87 percent) say they preefer to patronize businesses that hire people with disabilities.
• People with disabilities are consumers representing a trilliondollar market segment. They purchase products and services from companies that meet their needs.

• People who have direct experience with people with disabilities as co-workers see this experience as positive. They also see people with disabilities in the workforce ashelping employees to have a better understanding of people with disabilities.
• Employers report that the work ethic of employees with disabilities has a positive effect on the morale and production of other employees.
• Employment is a critical step toward independence. Businesses that hire workers with disabilities are seen as helping those workers become more productive.
"Working at Achieve for the last 20 years has brought me
success and independence. I love it here.
It makes my life better."
